Alma Care is on a mission to revolutionize postpartum care for Canadians. We offer premium postnatal services for optimal recovery and lasting family wellness.
We provide access to 24/7 care, nourishing food, education, lactation consulting, night nurses, hands on infant care workshops, wellness services and more. We take care of mom so that she can be her best self to take care of her baby. We offer this approach both in our premium retreat and in- home. This concept is novel in North America but a common practice in countries such as South Korea, China and Israel.
About the Role: Our Care Team Members become an extension of each new family who come under our care, by providing in-home 1:1 support. They’re kind, knowledgeable, proactive and highly responsive. They demonstrate a high level of professionalism, while making the family feel supported. They are a trusted resource, shoulder and set of hands. They believe in our mission and are passionate about executing on it. They exude a calm confidence that supports family's physical and mental wellbeing throughout their postpartum journey.
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Daytime in- home shifts (minimum 4 hrs)
- Overnight in- home shifts (10- 12 hrs)
- Proactive support and guidance for Mama's physical and mental wellbeing
- Guiding and supporting Mama through the vital aspects of newborn care such as sleep, feeding, routines, soothing, bathing and general care
- Educating and supporting Mama on the importance of, and how to recover after giving birth
- Providing emotional comfort, reassurance, and a listening ear
- Ensure that Mama and Baby are comfortable, safe and cared for at all times
- Prepare and serve meals, snacks and beverages, as an important part of the postpartum recovery
- Implement and guide Alma Care workshops on relevant postpartum and baby care topics
- 1:1 Baby care while mom rests, takes shower, attends appointments
- Light housework
About You:
- You have professional hands on experience supporting women post birth
- Professional experience working with newborns
- Professional experience supporting the breastfeeding journey
- Professional experience supporting healthy sleep habits for a newborn
- Committed to excellent customer service when interacting with families, and colleagues.
- Maintain best practice, care standards and life-long learning in the care field.
- You demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- You value the relationship you create with patients, their families and within the workspace
- You are dynamic and can adapt to high level stress situations
- You are resourceful, there’s no problem too big to solve.
- You believe in the Alma Care mission and are an ambassador and a true representation of the brand
- Experience with multiples is an asset
Qualifications
- Registered Social Workers OCSWSSW / Registered Nurses (RN, RPN) / Certified Postpartum Doulas will be strongly considered
- Must have Perinatal care experience
- Vulnerable Sector Check (within a year)
- Valid Infant CPR (Level B) and First Aid Certifications
- Food handlers (preferred)
- Proof of personal insurance
- Ability to travel to clients within 40km radius of home
- You have your own transportation (an asset) or reliable source
Schedule
- Min availability for 3 shifts per week (day, evening, overnight, weekends and holidays)
- Flexible schedule (on call)
